On Tuesday, July 19, 2016, Saint Joseph Hospital will bless and place the time capsule for the new hospital building. Items in the time capsule represent our culture through the lens of constructing and moving into a new facility and the physicians, associates and patients who are the life of the hospital.

Suggestions for the time capsule contents came from patients and visitors, members of our Facebook community, and Saint Joseph Hospital physicians and associates throughout 2014 and 2015. Thank you to everyone who participated in voting on and selecting items. A full list is below and photos can be seen here

The time capsule from 1964 was opened in November 2014. The capsule was located behind the cornerstone of the new tower addition and contained these items which are now in the hospital archives, with the exception of the two items indicated in the list below.

Come North! By Sister Julia Gilmore, SCL, inscribed and signed by Sr. Maureen Kehoe, SCL

Inscription:  In this book, Come North,, the title for chapter 19 is”

“What is past is prologue”.

This thought seems fitting as we replace

The earlier Saint Joseph Hospital

And dedicate this cornerstone for our new building,

For we stand on the shoulders of great ones,

Sisters, priests, doctors, nurses and others

Who preceded us in the healthcare ministry here.

May our loving God, the God of health, hope and happiness,

Continue to bless us in the present and in days to come.

We ask this prayer through the Holy Name of Jesus

And in the poser of the Holy Spirit

All for the greater glory of God.  Amen.
